Bound By Honor (Born in Blood mafia chronicles Book One) By Cora Reilly

Born into one of the leading Mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. Aria was only fifteen when her parents betrothed her to Luca – The Vice – Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families.
Now with eighteen, the day Aria has been dreading for years is looming dangerously: her wedding to Luca.
Aria is terrified of marrying a man she hardly knows, especially someone like Luca who got his nickname ‘the Vice’ for crushing a man’s throat with his bare hands. Luca might be one of the most sought after men in New York thanks to his good looks, wealth and predator-like charisma that radiates power, but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know what Aria does: that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile.
In her world a handsome exterior often hides the monster within; a monster who can just as easily kill as kiss you.
The only way to escape the marriage to Luca would be to run away and leave everything she’s ever known behind but Aria can’t bear the thought of never seeing her family again.
Despite her fear, she decides to go through with the marriage; Aria has grown up among predators like Luca and knows that even most cold-hearted bastards have a heart and she has every intention of working her way into Luca’s.

I came across Bound by honor, purely by luck. I was unsure at first, but reading a few other reviews I was soon swayed and I was hooked from the very first page.
Aria is the eldest of her siblings. she's the mature one, the sensible one and the one in the most control. Her other siblings are Gianna, who is a rebel with a smart mouth, then there is Lilly who is the flirt, giving all the men a hard time. they have a little brother too but I've forgotten his name, but he's so adorable and protective of Aria. When it's announced that she will be married, at the age of fifteen he goes mad at Luca. It was so cute.
Anyway, Aria is petrified of Luca. He's the next in line to take over the Familia. The wedding isn't held until she's of age. Even then she doesn't know Luca. He hasn't been in her life at all since they were announced to be married. They both carried on and led their own lives.

For some reason I was drawn to Luca from the very beginning. He's this cold killer with a cold mask, but when it came to Aria he was so different. He never showed he cared to her, but you could feel his protectiveness throughout the book.

On their wedding night their traditions are, what can only be described as disgusting. They are supposed to take their wife's virginity, then in the morning the wives of the rest of the family come up to get the blooded sheets, where they will take them down to present to the men in the family. Then they sit and eat breakfast while looking over at it. It's gross and minging.
Only, you'll be surprised by Luca and his actions on his wedding night. I'm not giving anything away but the book was completely unexpected.
I was unsure at first whether I'd still enjoy it when I found out how the other men treat their women, but then Luca changed all that for me.

I loved how the author didn't jump right in with the great sex. She drawn it out. The pain, hell, the whole experience of Aria losing her virginity was so believable. You would honestly think it was real. The author did a fantastic job with that part of the book. It wasn't rushed and took them a long while to even prepare for it. She was really scared. It didn't help that on her wedding day an ex girlfriend of Luca's scared Aria shitless with a comment about him 'fucking her bloody'.

The only part I think other readers may not like is that he cheats at the beginning of their marriage. Aria finds them and isn't happy because she genuinely wants to make her marriage work, but she just doesn't want to jump in and lose her virginity to him that quickly.
She forgave him pretty much straight away. Which is another thing I didn't like. It just gave example of the way Gianna, her sister paints her. As a push over.
The only thing that I will tell you, because I know most people will disagree with the cheating is that Luca had his reasons.
Because Aria was so scared of him, so hesitant with him he presumed she wanted him to be intimate with someone else. In their family that is how things work. Most men have mistresses.
When he found out after that she really wanted their marriage to work he honored his vows to her.

All in all the book is freaking amazing. I loved every single minute of it. I was a little disappointed with how cut short the ending felt. It seemed like it was rushed and everything happened so quickly then it was over, the end. So that was the only downside.

Apart from that, the chemistry between the Luca and Aria are off the charts. I really enjoyed reading about them and how they progressed as a couple. Aria really did hit the husband load when she married Luca, it could have been worse.

5* And the author truly does deserve this.

(Note: There are a few errors throughout the book, but every one was easy to ignore)

Carter Reed 2 By Tijan

Carter bought his way out of the mafia to protect Emma, but when an old ghost returns to the Mauricio Family, a chain of events starts that can harm everyone. While Carter must decide to return to the Mauricio Family or not, a face that is oddly familiar to Emma comes into her life. She’s given the chance to discover more about her family while tension between the rivaling Mauricio and Bertal Family comes to a head in an explosive way. The truce is officially off, and when the two worlds collide, Carter’s decision is made.
He didn’t start this war, but he will end it.
He will do anything to protect Emma.

This book was so much better than the first Carter Reed novel. I loved it, don't get me wrong, but I found this one was so much more better. Yeah, a lot going on and new secrets coming out of the wood work, but all good.
Carter's long lost friend who he helped escape when the Mauricio family was under attack years ago is back and ready to take his place at the head of the family. Unknown who to trust after he's attacked and his two friends are killed Cole looks up Carter for help, bringing him back into the fold, especially when Emma is attacked.

When the Bertal family targets Emma, Carter is back in full force, waiting for his revenge.
Emma's past comes back and she finds herself finding out she has a long lost sister. Her sister Andy tells Emma that AJ, her brother was the one meant to have kidnapped her as a kid nearly destroys Emma. Then when their worlds collide her sister Andy is taken Emma and Carter stop at nothing to find her. Carter slowly, one by one starts taking down the Bertal family, destroying their businesses as he goes.

Cole, the new head of the Mauricio family works slower, trying to find the rat in the family and who is working against him.

The book is full of action and it never stops. I love Carter and his love for Emma, who wouldn't want that in a relationship?????

Liam (Allen Securities #3) By Madison Stevens

Meg Allen traveled to London to learn new skills for her brother’s security firm and try and bury her feelings for a certain sexy co-worker, Liam. A summer away in London hasn’t cooled the flames of passion. Equipped with a defiant attitude and a new hairdo, she has to face the man she’s pined after while also dealing with an unknown enemy targeting her home.

Liam Grant is still coming to terms with his deepened and shocking connections to the Irish mob. He has to make a choice of either his blood family or the Allen family and his career at their security firm. With Meg threatened, he pushes aside his own concerns to focus on the investigation. Though he tells himself that his family connections are just another danger to Meg, his passion risks burning away his objectivity and could blind him to the truth of who is actually targeting the woman he desires.

I really should have gave up reading these, but one I paid £3+ and they really are addictive in a way LOL
This one disappointed me the most. I've moaned about there being no background story to any of them, but with this one, with Liam, it really did need more. It did give more than the other stories did, but I found it still missed out a lot that a reader should know. I had so many questions I nearly gave up reading.
And although I'm complaining I still liked the story line and where it was going. I just wish it was written better.

Liam has been in the series from the start, but in this book it's BAM he's the mob bosses brother. Step brother. How??? god knows. Because he went from a cousin to a brother. So how did that happen? Ask the author. I got that his mom was attacked? Maybe? I'm not sure. The book flew by too quickly as it's not that long. Especially for £2+ that you would normally pay separately.

I honestly didn't find this book any use to the series apart from the couple who had been struggling from the beginning got together.

I loved the dog plot in the book and that is the only reason I may or may not read the next book. I'm not sure. All depends.

Little Doll (Bittersweet duet #1) By Melissa Jane

Little Doll is a dark, gritty story not for the faint hearted. It’s not all bad. Redemption, forgiveness and trust are central themes that are weaved amongst the character’s interactions. If you are easily offended by most things violent, this tale of survival may not be for you.

Laila had already overcome many heartbreaking obstacles in her twenty-five years… but none compared to this. With her brother missing and no other family to speak of, Laila has no idea of the evil that shadows her every move. Now in the hands of a notorious cartel family, she quickly learns that trust and betrayal are a deadly mix.

Aiden had a plan. One that was operating smoothly until Laila surfaced in his father’s mansion. With time against him, he must work night and day to right the wrongs that threaten to expose his ultimate betrayal.

Juan and Aiden share many differences, but the one thing that threatens to tear their family apart is the one thing they want to claim as their own, no matter what the costs.

This is a very, dark, gritty story with a lot of story lines not meant for the faint hearted. I will admit, I don't usually like this kind of novel, the gritty, sickening, disturbing story's really get to me, but I found myself lulled into this story for some reason.

From the very beginning I found myself really wanting to find out where her brother was, who was this AIDEN??? WHY did she have an affect on him.

Laila fly's across the country to find her brother who hasn't been in touch for weeks. Any other person wouldn't care. What's a few weeks right?
Wrong.
Her brother usually rings her dead on time on the exact same day's, so when he still hasn't gotten in touch she heads off in search for him, only telling her only friend where she's going.
It's how she ends up meet Juan, a stranger in a cafe where she looks for her brother.
Laila is then captured, exposed, beaten, raped, and has to work with one of the notorious cartel familes sons to survive.
One is as dangerous as any of the men she had come in contact with since arriving at their mansion, but something about Aiden tells her she's safe.
For now
Juan on the other hand I completely hated from the get go. Even when she explained him to be this dark, rugged, handsome man with evil eyes did I really wish she would have ran away, but she didn't.
Her smart mouth and her unsubmisive attitude is what gets her into the world of trouble, heartache, pain, and left to face with what they do for the rest of her life.
I felt so sorry for her. I really wanted Aiden to do something, to save her, but when Juan is out for something he really does get it. What they did to her was brutal, cruel and uncalled for, but I suppose in life that is how things are.
I found her spirit, her strength, her need to stay sane compelling. I was so in awe of this girl, this woman, that I really ended up liking her.

Kace (Allen Securities #2) By Madison Stevens

Jessica Tamm is just trying to get ahead in life and escape the cloud of her father’s criminal past. Though, it’d probably help if she hadn’t taken a job managing a club owned by the head of the local Irish mob. As far as she’s concerned, her own discomfort is a minor price to pay to earn the money she needs for her sister’s education. Unfortunately, the Russians interested in taking over local organized crime don’t seem to care that her job has nothing to do with the criminal world of her boss.

Monitoring the Russian and Irish mobs is just another step in the promotion ladder for cop Kace Allen, or at least that's what he keeps telling himself. Babysitting a mob boss club isn't what he’d call a fun time, but the scenery, particularly the sexy manager, is nice. Too bad he can't trust the daughter of a criminal who works for a criminal. He’s sworn to uphold the law, and no one, not even a beautiful woman, has made him question that before.

When the temperature rises between the Russian and Irish factions and Jessica’s caught in the middle, Kace starts to see the lines between good and bad, law-abiding and criminal, are a lot blurrier than he ever realized.

I will say, Kace was the best storyline out of the series so far. Still problems with not elaborating enough, but I think after reading two books already like it I did sort of get used to it.
Kace is a police but when lines are blurred he struggles to see which side of the law he should actually be on.
I've just found out also this series ties with another series of Madisons called the Kelly's. It's Finn's story who is one of the mob bosses who is Samantha's boss.

From when I read Ryder's story I expected the story to be a bit more excited. I really did expect a lot when this was one of the main story plots that actually made sense more than the others did. I finally got an understanding of what was going on. That is only my guess though, so I could be way off line lol

Reed ( Allen Securities #1) By Madison Stevens

Olivia Cross left behind her abusive alcoholic mother to move on to a better life, a new job at a library and a chance to actually get ahead. All of that is threatened when her brother drags her back into the seedy world of greed, violence and corruption she’s tried desperately to flee.

Private security contractor Reed Allen isn’t about to let a burning attraction rope him in again. He’s already felt the sting of letting his heart rather than his head lead him. He’s just there to do the job and get paid, even if a certain spunky beautiful librarian has him feeling things he thought long since buried.

Keeping Olivia safe is the easy part. Resisting their passionate urges could prove to be much harder.

They’ll have to mend their broken hearts and move on from their painful pasts for a chance at a future.

Oliver Cross finds herself in the crossfire when her brother Ben drags her into the world of the seedy, violence, greed and corruption.
She's not new to the violence, or the greed part in life as she grew up with an alcoholic mother and violent boyfriends.
But she's determined not to turn out like her mother. She wants a good life. So starting her new job at the library she's shocked to find her little brother bringing his troubles to her doorstep.

Reed is a private investigator and is currently undercover for someone higher up in government. But when a feisty, passionate, vulnerable Oliver gets in the way he's at mixed emotions on what to do.

Apparently he's been burned before, but as I said in Ryder's review, nothing ever is elaborated.  I got a bit of what happened, he was on a job, bla bla bla, the woman burned him and nearly got him and his brother killed. But how did they meet? How long were they together? Did he love her? Is that why he didn't see what a liar she was? Nothing was ever mentioned and it started to get my back up because Ryder, which is the first book I read, but is book four, is the brother who nearly got killed with Reed. But even in his book, nothing about his scar was actually explained. Like how he did it. It's still driving me mad now and I know it's only a book LOL

Anyway, Reed decides to protect Oliver, but he sure likes to make an ass out of himself and does the unthinkable when they first have sex. I would never have forgiven him or felt like I could share a bed with him again, but after a night away, Oliver flew back in his arms. GRRRRR. LOL

The story has the mafia, made men and a lot of twist and turns. I also got confused on who was who in a lot of it because again, nothing was ever explained. It's like we got the outline of a story, but my God the stories are so freaking good.

4* because I did still enjoy the actual story.

I will warn readers who are going to buy this, it does need editing, grammar checking and another read through.

Vincent (Made men #2) By Sarah Brianne

Vincent knows the glamorous side of the Mafia, being born a soldier.

Lake lives on the opposite side of the tracks, born the daughter of a soldier.

The light and dark side of him are at constant war, but he is letting his darkness reign.

She is trying to find peace, and she will soon be far enough away to find it.

Discovering that his boss owns her, showed him how little he knew her.

Knowing all about him only makes her want to hate him.

I'm a fu**ing made man.

I'm just fu**ing trailer trash.

I have literally been waiting for this book for far too long.

I absolutely loved Nero and it comes in second to Rachel Van Dyken's Elite series. Nothing could ever beat that for me, but this book is coming in close.

Lake is from the poorer side of the mafia, her father only been a foot soldier. Her mother on the other hand is a spiteful, greedy, gold digger who is married to a wealthy man. He bullies Lake, I mean really bullies her and treats her like she's nothing. It honestly made me feel sick reading it. The way he demands her to clean, the way her mother buys her things knowing that Ashley just takes them off of her. They even make the poor girl sleep on a mattress in the cold attic when they have spare bedrooms. It honestly made me sick. Even on her graduation her mother didn't show, because of her husband being sick with a cold. He wasn't, he just wanted another way to punish Lake.
What made it worse no one saw what was going on around her.

When her father gets into trouble, Lake doesn't do what she's told. He's the only person she loves more than anything that she feels safe with. So she ends up going head to head with the mob boss, and giving her college fund over to him and offering to work for him.
Her life is a complete mess, and I felt so deeply sorry for her.
Now, in come Vincent, her best friends brother who she shared her first kiss with. Since then she has harbored a crush on him and wanted him madly, but he kept pushing her away.

Slowly, and I mean slowly, does Vincent help Lake sort through her problems, only for Vincent it's been hard to keep her safe when the boss wants her gone. After all, she doesn't do what she's told. Not ever!!!

I have to say I burst out laughing when Lake leaves to her grandmas and Jamie Begley's The Last Rider's characters were apart of the book. Hearing what Vincent was saying made me laugh because I couldn't picture him going up against any of them. It honestly had me in stitches. I wouldn't mind, but Vincent is known to break bones and kill people with his bare hands. I guess to me Jamie Begley's last Rider boys just do it better ;)

The book was well played out and I cannot wait for the next in the series. I'm still debating if I'm

Assassin Territory (Assassins Book one) By C.L.Scholey

After the demise of her parents, Christy’s boyfriend turns on her, causing her to suffer through an abusive relationship, until she flees. Battered, she wants only to disappear off the face of the earth.
You should be careful what you wish for.

After the single-engine plane she boards is thrown off course and crashes into the middle of nowhere, killing all but one of the other occupants, Christy almost gets her wish. She is dismayed when she realizes her only hope of survival is dependent on a man who appears more soulless than her ex.

Lando knows Christy is following him through the wilderness, thinking he is unaware of her presence. And telling her he is a hit man for the mafia undoubtedly makes her wary. Life has made him hard and tough.

When a violent storm forces the two into a confrontation of wills, they battle more than the elements together in a tiny cave, safe from a raging blizzard, but not their blazing emotions.

Although I didn't like the writing and it took me a little while to get used to, I really enjoyed the story. I found a lot of errors during the book, but nothing really major enough to stop you wanting to read.

The story starts with the Christy out taking photos before her and her boss Sam left to catch their private flight. When they get there, they aren't the only ones on the flight.
Christy has a hard past, her ex abusive which has left her scared and frightened of other men. The only man she is close to, is her boss, Sam.
On the plane Christy has to share with a man -Lando- who is with a detective and wearing cuffs. His eyes frighten her, but he looks to enjoy it.
When the plane goes off track he is the one to try steady the plane and help the small group by telling them to get their heads down.

After the plan crashes the only survivors are Lando and Christy, only he wants to kill her thinking she's out of her league and feels it will be less painful if he puts her out of her misery. Only something about her stops him and instead leaves her alone.

Christy ends up following him through the woods, unaware that he knows she is following him. When he has enough of trying to keep her safe from afar, he takes her under his wing, keeping her fed and warm.
The two become close and soon the chemistry between the two hits an all time high.

From there, I thought the book was going to be about surviving the jungle, or forest until they got back to safety, but the book was more than that.
Lando was under police protection for a reason and his reason was hiding from the boss. Lando is an assassin and when he refused to kill a mother and her two children his boss went a head and ordered the hit anyway, so when Lando found out he went to the police, knowing he doesn't kill the innocent and only the evil.

Lines blur together and soon Christy is in the middle of it all, frightened and barely hanging on.

I really enjoyed the story and will be reading the next one if it's about Wolf. I really liked his character, no matter how angry he got after promising Lando and Christy he wouldn't touch her.

Ember (Elite #5) By Rachel Van Dyken

Everybody Loves A Bit of Darkness..Until It Consumes Them...
I am a Killer. A Rapist. A Monster.
I know only pain and survival.
That is until the Cappo's sister walked into my life.
And changed everything.
She's a light who makes my darkness darker, her smile makes my heart turn to ice, and I can't escape the fear her seductive looks instill--knowing it's only a matter of time before I fail--again, and take her for myself.
This is the story of my redemption.
But it's not pretty...I died, and now I'm alive, but not living, breathing but not surviving. I am Phoenix De Lange, son to a murdered mob boss, estranged brother, horrible friend, monster in the making, newest leader to one of the most powerful families in the Cosa Nostra.
And I will have my vengeance.
Or die trying.
I am Phoenix De Lange.
Death is all I know.
Until she offers me a piece of life--I can't resist taking

It feels like I've been waiting years to read this novel and as always, Rachel didn't let us down. The book is freaking amazing. I don't think I'd ever get enough of the Elite series or their characters.
I end up laughing in the most inappropriate moments and wanting to cry in others.

I wasn't sure about reading this book because I wasn't sure I'd like Phoenix. What he did as a boy made me sick to my stomach and I don't know how anyone could find redemption after doing something like that. Then I read the novel and if anyone deserves redemption is Phoenix. He was a victim just as much as the girls were. I felt so sorry for him it broke my heart. Everything about him did, to him not eating, to him not sleeping, it really broke my heart.
I just wanted him to be happy.

I loved how, out of everyone, it's Bee that fixes him. That see's he's dying inside. She supports him, pushes him and loves him and it was incredibly sweet and adorable.

Really enjoyed this novel. I don't want to say anymore as I may as well tell you the whole plot LOL!!! Just know, this series is one of the best out there and with Rachel Van Dyken, you'll never be disappointed. All her work is amazing. She's so talented it makes me envy her. She really knows what readers want in their books.
The Elite series is something else entirely. No other Mafia book could ever live up to this one. None!!!

Also, you get a sneak peak into the books which just so happens to be Sergio's. It's only a page or so, but my God, my eyes watered.

Indebted (A Kingpin love affair #1) By J.L.Beck

It was suppose to be a debt settled, just a price being repaid.
Instead love was born...
...from unpaid dues it bloomed.
See, that's the funny thing about love, you never expect it.

After losing her mother to cancer a few months prior to graduating, Bree Forbes was finally able to take some time away and enjoy her college days. That all changed in a blink of an eye the moment Bree came home for break. She didn't expect to find her dad strapped to chair, a gun pointed at his head.

Alzerro “Zerro” King wasn't a man to be messed with. Women flocked to him and men ran from him. He ruled the mafia with an iron fist and no one ever crossed him unless they wanted to pay the price. He believed the only way to pay for something, if unable to do so, was to do it in blood. Nothing got him harder than stringing someone up, and putting a bullet in their head.

That is until Bree.

One look is all it took for him to know she could pay for her father’s debt in many other ways… Ways that could get him hard.

Could a big city mafia king fall in love with the small town country girl? Would she be able to handle his dark and demanding ways? When push comes to shove, would Bree end up running only to be killed? Or would she sacrifice herself for love?

I'd ordered this book ages ago, but never got the time to read it or another book would come up.
As soon as I read the first three chapters I knew I was going to love it. I did get confused on who was who in some places, but never with the main characters. It only happened with the background characters.
Alzerro is a mafia boss who doesn't take too kindly to people not paying their debts. So for a payment he takes Bree, the small town country girl who's father owes him money.
Bree is attracted to him straight away and although he doesn't touch her at first you can feel the attraction coming from out of the pages between the two.

There are a lot of twist and turns that will have you gasping. The ending however completely ruined me. I had to quickly download the next one and start it just to see what happened. It's truly addictive.
Alzerro is controlling, sexy and secretly has a damn good heart. So the ending really did surprise me like it will most of you. I also never guessed or predicted anything whilst reading it which is unlike me. I've usually guessed the plot three chapters in. Not with this one though.

Stay with me (Wait for me Book Three) By J. Lynn

Not all scars are visible on the surface
Calla Fritz is used to hiding. Hiding the scar that she believes mars her beautiful face. Hiding the burns that cover so much of the rest of her body. Hiding her past and her family secrets from her new college friends.
But when her mother clears out her bank account and disappears, Calla is forced to return home and face up to a life she’d rather forget about. What she didn’t count on was meeting the one guy who seems to be able to see past her defences. Jackson James, known as Jax, is beyond smokin’ hot – and Calla can’t quite hide her feelings for a man who knows that beauty isn’t only skin deep.
But with some dangerous characters looking for her mother – men who are perfectly happy to punish Calla for her mother’s sins if she doesn’t turn up soon – Calla and Jax have more troubling things to think about than the searing heat between them…

Book three is with Calla.
We meet her in Book two and I have to say, it's like reading a totally new character.
In Book two she is quite vocal, especially when it comes to boys. Then, in this one she's the shy virgin, who looks on from the outside, never being on the in. I found it hard to believe this was the same girl. Not that it bothered me, it's just that I went from one deception of her, to another.

Anyway, after her mom clears her out she heads back home to sort it out. Only, it's a bigger mess than she realized when she gets back home.
There were certain things I guessed straight off, even before it happened, and kind of annoyed Calla didn't figure those out.
Calla ends up working at her mothers bar for tips, to try pay back the money her mom has taken out in her name, but I hate to break this to you Calla, but you'll be saving for the rest of your life. How she thought she could even put a dent in 100,000 was beyond me. I felt so sorry for her. She had gotten out of her dump of a house, and moved miles away to get away from her toxic mom. Only for her mom to have shit on her.

Then we have Jax, my god I fell in love with him. He's seriously hot. I loved he didn't take any crap from Calla, or let her hide. She has scars all over her body and the one people see is the one on her face, but Jax doesn't see that when he looks at her. It's soooo sweet. I loved him more for it. Seeing past her imperfections.
In this one we're introduced to a few new characters, but my favorite was Katie. She used to be the schools quiet nerd, but now she's a stripper, loud and loving it. I can't even explain how hard I laughed when she's first introduced. She was hilarious. I wanted to see her more in the book.

The only problem I had with the book, not a problem as such, but one I could never figure out was the drugs. They were in the house and from what Jax said it was worth a lot more than a million bucks. So why is her mom on the run if the drugs are there for her to return? I know they get taken, but they were there before and why wasn't the guy who had taken them mentioned to Isiah??? It drove me mad LOL
I also have to admit, I'd love to read his story. i don't know, there was just something about him that made him come across interesting. There's also the other barmaids and coppers story I'd love to read. I know for sure there's something there.

Burying Water by K.A.Tucker

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

Before I start with review I would like to take the time to say, other followers of my blog have asked me to give examples out when I comment about something. I don't usually go by other people's reviews, but because of the price I needed to read reviews before purchasing.

Burying water came across as a recommendation on Amazon. I looked at the blurb and thought WOW! This looks intriguing, but then I read it and it's plain and simple story.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the story, but for the price it currently is, I don't think it's that worth it.
I think loads of the ARC reviewers, or betas have hyped this up to be something it clearly isn't.
"This is a fun, flirty, super sexy love story that offers all of the best of opposites attracting. K.A. Tucker's writing is engaging, witty, and endearing just like her characters." --Jay Crownover "New York Times bestselling author "
This statement is written on the actual description part on amazon. I'd like to put a few things out here. One it's not fun. There is nothing in this story or about this story that is fun. Trust me. Flirty? Kind of I suppose when it goes onto Jesse's POV where he meets Water AKA Alex. Super Sexy? Not much, but it does have some sex scenes.  Witty? Nothing in this novel is really funny or though some parts made me smile, like when Water would say something she'd said before she lost her memory.
"Burying Water was something fresh and exciting from K.A. Tucker."
This I half agree with. It is something new, but no where near exciting as this review talks about.

The story alternates between the past and present. As much as I liked knowing both stories, it was too predictable and found the past scenes dragged too long for my liking. It was obvious what had happened from the beginning. I am happy she included it as we got to feel the connection between the two characters. I just with that in the present she would have rewritten their connection. That's how the blurb comes across to me. That she falls in love all over again for him. That their love was meant to be because even with her memory erased, she still found him in her heart again. It didn't quite go like that which was a disappointment.

I loved Water AKA Alex's personality, it was obviously clear that no matter what she had always been herself, because she woke up the same person, but with just no memory.
One thing, which I haven't gone back to, to copy on here was a comment made by Gabe, Jesse's dad about his mom not finding out, but his mom new who she was all along. Unless I misread it.

I also loved Ginny, the old lady Water goes to stay with after she leaves the hospital. I loved how they were together. How they mended each other. It also pained me when their relationship ended.

I will say this, I'd wait for price to go down before purchasing it. You'd be able to buy the book on paper back for a few pound more and own it. As an author myself I also know that Kindle on pays us a certain % which isn't a lot. But I know as a reader we don't own these Mobi versions. We don't own that book that's downloaded on to our kindle. If we did, we could lend it out right, but you can't. Amazon could remove all books and there's nothing anyone could do as we are- kind of like- renting them I suppose.

Moving a side, the story was beautiful. Places were hard to read, but I muddled through. The ending was beautiful. Simple, but beautiful.

3* Well done K.A.Tucker for bringing us a fresh read.

Point of freedom (The Nordic Lords MC #3) By Stacey Lynn

RELEASED 23RD OCTOBER

Hatred.

Desire.

Broken Dreams.

Jules McAllister has loved and lost.

She experienced the gut wrenching pain of grief after her boyfriend, Scratch, a member of the Nordic Lords MC, died on the same night that she told him they were going to have a child.

Grief stricken and destroyed, she left Jasper Bay, unable to tell anyone the truth of what really happened that fateful night.

When her childhood friend, Olivia needs her, Jules realizes it’s time to return home and give her daughter what she wants most – a family.

But Jules didn’t count on the tumultuous emotions she would feel around Scratch’s brooding and angry brother, Jaden.

Jaden has vowed to never forgive Jules for, what he feels is her role his brother’s death. Being face to face with Jules again, who is now a mother to a young child, he finds that his anger hasn’t waned and swears to have nothing to do with mom or child.

But how can he reconcile the burning fury in his soul with the irrational urge to touch her? To taste her? To own her completely?

Can wounded hearts that still bleed ever be healed? And can two people broken by their pasts find freedom from their pain in each other?

Or will a night of passion destroy them both?

Point of Freedom has to be the best one in the series. Although I felt a connection to the last book I found this one had more of a feel to it. I also found the writing was so much better, and i couldn't put it down. I started it in the morning and never put it down till I had finished it.

Basically Jules was with Jaden's brother, Scratch. When he died Jaden blamed her for the accident and never forgave her, in fact, he can't stand looking at her, yet he still can't keep his eyes off of her. When she turns up back in their home town the last thing anyone expected was for her to bring a two year girl, who is Scratches daughter. She did try telling Jaden before she moved away from all the blame and hate given towards her. I mean, I don't blame her, they wouldn't even let her at the funeral.
Anyway, Jules moves back to town because of a crazy ex, one who wants her back. Well fate keeps throwing Jaden at her and vise versa.
For Sophie, her little girl she tries hard to be nice to Jaden even though he's a complete jerk to her.

There's a lot more going on in this one that will have you on the edge of your seat, and your heart racing. I didn't like it towards the end because I felt like I was missing a book. I wanted to know what was happening in the time Jaden was unattainable. Or how they handled the Mob family. It all seemed rushed on that part anyway.

Also at the end, just like in the previous book, Meg calling Faith for help and her sounding scared asking if she can stay with them. I'm hoping the next book is about her, and stick the Australian guy, Finn with her and I'm reading it ;) I want to know more about the two.

Assumption: Underground Kings By Aurora Rose Reynolds

as·sump·tion:

a thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof

They say when you assume that you make an ass out of you and me. Kenton Mayson learned this lesson firsthand when he made assumptions about Autumn Freeman and the kind of woman she is based on what little information he had. What he finds out is she’s not only beautiful, but also smart, funny, a fighter, and exactly the kind of woman he wants to share his life with. Autumn made assumptions of her own about Kenton, and now he needs to prove her wrong in order to protect her and their future.

Assumption? That's what I did before buying this book. I assumed it to be like another book I had read, but I was mistaken.
Autumn Freeman is more than a stripper, more than a pretty face, and more than a nurse. The one thing that stuck out to me about her was a comment she said about appearances. About girls being jealous of her, calling her names. It's true. Someone sees a pretty girl and they automatically think sl*g. It's the same with men, they see a gorgeous women, they don't want to get to know her, they want to bang her. So it was nice for an author to say how it really is.
I enjoyed Autumn's character, she made me laugh, especially with her banter. So bloody funny. I also shed a tear for her past, it was emotional to say the least.

Then we have cocky, hot, Kenton Mayson who I actually adored from the beginning. He came across as honest, and even though at first he saw her as others see her, I still really liked him, but then Autumn had her own assumptions about Kenton.

The story plot is really good. I had to read it through one sitting because it was that good. Although the action doesn't really start until the end, it's still an amazing book to read.
The only problem I had with this book was a few of the sentences didn't make any sense what-so-ever and I found myself re reading it to make some sense of it using my own words LOL.

eg.... I scoot back up the bed as he crawls to me, his legs spreading my hips wide. When it should have said ....I scoot back up the bed as he crawls up to me, his hips spreading my legs wide.

There were a few sentences like this and a few mistakes. Other than that I loved the book.
